The Not So Scary Adventure for Kids is recommended for ages 3 and up. Since its first year in 2009, Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse has grown from its original two-week run, to now include six-weeks of terrifying scares. Over 100 people are on hand every evening to ensure the smooth operation of each haunt. As a division of The Gateway, Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County, Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse utilizes the numerous theatrical designers and staff at the Gateway – Long Island’s oldest professional theatre. Dozens of professionally trained actors prepare and rehearse each character that inhabits the haunt, giving it a unique, theatrical quality unrivaled on the island. Here are 12 month-long events to get you in the spirit of “spooky season” this year. The haunt is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October, as well as Thursday, Oct. 27 and Monday, Oct. 31, from 7 to 10 p.m.
